Hotels: Raising the (mini) Bar!

We’ve been working hard with one of our most forward-thinking, disruptive and hard-working clients VendEase (explore more about what they do here) to introduce touch-less vending combined with age-restricted alcohol sales to hotels.

Introducing a touch free, age verified, alcoholic drinks vending machine, set to call time on the traditional hotel mini bar whilst also taking the heat off of F&B teams who are under increasing pressure to reduce guest contact points and maintain safe distancing during these unprecedented times.

The hotel mini bar has long been a source of problems between staff and guests making check-out a more complicated and sometimes unpleasant experience. Customers often feel they’re being ripped off and will go to great lengths to avoid paying their bills. Sound familiar?

For hotels, mini bars are expensive to run. They use up valuable space in each room and restocking takes up considerable staff time, resulting in unnecessary room visits at a time when hotels are already under pressure to reduce guest and team members exposure to each other.

Now there’s a simple and effective alternative. A touch free, age verified, alcoholic drinks dispenser providing a hassle free, safe and affordable way to serve guests with alcoholic drinks at a fraction of the cost of running a full-service bar.

“We have developed a piece of software which allows for age control, this coupled with a slick way of carrying out an end to end transaction using your smartphone really puts this solution at the vanguard of a post-Covid world, especially when hotels are uncertain as to how best to organise their F&B function and guests willingness to engage with bars and restaurants”

VendEase CEO Dave Berman

How does it work? Well… all sales go to the hotel directly

Each hotel has an option to buy the machine and then pay a small percentage of revenue, which includes installation, training, credit card fees and all maintenance and support. All sales revenue generated goes directly to the hotel, and hotels have full control over setting their own price points.

Each vending machine provides detailed, realtime sales information along with engagement metrics, giving F&B departments full control and visibility over what has sold.

The DVT42 Digital Vending Machine from Aeguana provides a 42” HD display that can also be used to interact with 3rd party service providers (gym’s, ticket sales, car parking, tourist attractions etc). Combining these additional revenue streams with the opportunity to use the space for external or internal advertising provides extensive flexibility above and beyond pure alcohol sales.

Each digital vending machine installation simply requires a standard power outlet, since each machine is connected as standard and communicates with VendLive and Aeguana’s servers over 3G/4G. This ensures it can be used in busy areas such as hotel receptions and lift lobbies.

They say that necessity is the mother of invention and this certainly seems to be the case as far as getting a drink is concerned!
